Who is Michael Williams? He is an inmate in the Florida Department Of Corrections going on his 9th year of confinement. He was sentanced to 15 years for the theft of under $200 dollars worth of property in 1990 while living in Key West, Fl. He is a p.o.w. in the so called "War On Crime", a term used by politicians in the last decade to get votes. I feel "No" persons property is worth sending a man to jail for that length of time. Mike's crime was that he was born poor and therefore could not afford the price of Justice in our present system. These men rotting away in prisons all over the country are our sons, brothers, and husbands and despite their crimes are entitled to the same justice afforded by the rich. Need I mention the name "O.J. Simpson" to prove that justice can be bought. I do not condone crime of any type but feel that justice should be meted out with the same measuring stick and not by the depth of one's pockets or the size of their purse. It's too late now for Michael, he's done his nine years in hell and by this time next year will be out, but what about those men that fill our county jails right now waiting for their turn to stand in a courtroom and try to get justice. Will they have the price of Justice? Me thinks not... | ||||||||||||||||

"Users" hurt only themselves and suffer from a desease called "Addiction". Would you lock your mother up if she got Cancer? Of course not, then why lock-up addicts, they're no different than alcoholics and they don't go to jail for it. If they did 90% of the police officers in this country would be doing hard time...
